Origin Stories:
Arabica coffee was first introduced to Papua New Guinea in the 1930s, when seeds from Jamaica’s Blue Mountain were planted in the fertile highlands. Today, regions like Jiwaka and the Western Highlands are renowned for producing some of the country’s finest coffees. Grown at elevations of 1,500–1,700 meters, these coffees thrive in rich volcanic soil and ideal microclimates. The result is a cup profile that is vibrant and complex, often displaying notes of tropical fruit, citrus, chocolate, and a tea-like brightness, reflecting both the island’s unique terroir and its traditional smallholder farming practices.
